Thomas N. Sweeney Presents CLE Course “What’s It Worth” in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – March 14, 2015

Thomas N. Sweeney, Esq. of Philadelphia personal injury law firm, Messa & Associates, P.C., recently served as the Course Planner for a Pennsylvania Association of Justice continuing legal education course “What’s it Worth?”, a course aimed at educating attorneys on valuing real cases. Mr. Sweeney organized current examples from active cases to assist and encourage discussions between attendees and panel members which included plaintiff’s attorneys, defense attorneys, a judge, and an arbitrator/mediator. Much of the course was spent evaluating hypothetical situations from real cases. Mr. Sweeney and the panel also discussed successful settlement techniques specific to arbitrations and mediations, ethics issues with regard to certain settlements, maximizing settlements in smaller cases, and the continuing impact of Pennsylvania’s Fair Share Act on settlements.

The course was held at Top of the Tower on March 10, 2015 and offered three substantive CLE credits and one ethics CLE credit. The rest of the panel included The Honorable Henry S. Perkin of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of PA; Rosalind T. Kaplan, Esq.; Arthur S. Novello, Esq.; Philip M. Hof, Esq.; Patrick D. MacAvoy, Esq.; Thomas P. Bracaglia, Esq.; and George Audi, CFP, CHSNC.

Tom Sweeney concentrates his practice in complex personal injury cases including premises liability, toxic tort, medical malpractice, products liability, and other catastrophic injury cases. He is a member of both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bars and is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Sweeney is a member of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and serves as a board member for the Pennsylvania Association for Justice.
