Eric H. Weitz

Eric H. Weitz, a trial attorney admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, concentrates his practice upon representing individuals in a wide variety of complex trial matters, including those who have suffered traumatic brain injuries and other catastrophic injuries arising out of medical negligence, automobile and trucking accidents, construction accidents, civil rights violations and defective premises. Mr. Weitz’s practice also focuses on representing individuals and companies in commercial disputes such as insurance bad faith claims, commercial disputes and representing healthcare providers in various managed care disputes with insurance carriers. He has litigated hundreds of cases on behalf of individuals and healthcare providers against insurance companies. These disputes range from improper claims denials, unjustified medical decision making by insurance companies, medical necessity disputes and complex coverage disputes.
Mr. Weitz has successfully litigated dozens of personal injury cases for his clients, including a $28.75 million verdict for a foster child that was rendered a paraplegic in a motor vehicle accident and an $8.6 million verdict for the family of a child who suffered severe brain damage because her delivery was inexplicably delayed.
Mr. Weitz is an active member in many national and local organizations. As a member of the American Association for Justice, Mr. Weitz served as the Coordinator and Co-Host of the regional 1998 National Mock Trial Competition. He serves on the Pennsylvania Association for Justice Board of Governors. Mr. Weitz is also an active member of the American Trial Lawyers Association – New Jersey and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, where he serves as a board member. Throughout his membership in the Philadelphia Bar Association, Mr. Weitz chaired the Compulsory Arbitration Committee and was elected to the Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee where he served as Secretary. Other legal association activities include his being an invited participant in the Temple American Inn of Court and membership in the Philadelphia Lawyer’s Club. Mr. Weitz is a Fellow of the Academy of Advocacy. For five consecutive years, Mr. Weitz has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine and Philadelphia Magazine, including Top 100 Pennsylvania and Top 100 Philadelphia for 2011.
Mr. Weitz received his undergraduate degree from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Television, Radio and Film Management. Mr. Weitz was the recipient of the Robert Costas Scholarship for Excellence in Broadcast Writing. Mr. Weitz received his juris doctorate, cum laude, from the Villanova University School of Law. As a finalist in the Theodore L. Reimel Moot Court Competition, Mr. Weitz was appointed as a school representative to the National Moot Court Competition and named a Moot Court Board Member.
Mr. Weitz was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and lives in the Philadelphia area with his wife and two children.
