Nathan Conder v. Jacob George, M.D., et al.
1/1/2004—A Green County Circuit Court jury found orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jacob George, guilty of negligence in performing back surgery. Attorney Joseph L. Messa, Jr. filed suit on behalf of Plaintiff Nathan Conder, claiming the back surgery performed on his client was negligent, unnecessary and based on a misdiagnosis. Mr. Conder suffered permanent injury to his back, lost the ability to work and support himself financially, and was deprived of enjoyment of life as a result of the surgery.
The jury found that 80 percent of Mr. Conder’s injuries were a result of Dr. George’s negligence. The judgment entered against the doctor and his insurance carriers was broken down as follows: $35,000 was awarded for medical bills, $350,000 for pain and suffering, $288,405 for compensation for lost earnings, and $875,430 for loss of future earning capacity.
