\nFiat Chrysler (FCA) said in a news release yesterday that the automaker is recalling over 150,000 SUVs and minivans in the United States and an additional 55,000 in Canada and Mexico due to a brake manufacturing error. <\/p>\n

Vehicles affected by the recall include the 2018 Dodge Journey<\/strong>, 2018-2019 Dodge Grand Caravan<\/strong>, 2018-2019 Jeep Compass<\/strong>, and 2019 Jeep Cherokee<\/strong>. Recall notices will be distributed to affected car owners “soon” and dealers will “inspect and bleed their brake systems, as needed.”<\/p>\n

“An investigation by FCA US discovered certain shipments of a supplied brake-system component had not been manufactured to specification and were inadvertently installed on vehicles during spring 2018,” the release stated. <\/p>\n

“In new vehicles with very low mileage, these components may cause gas bubbles to form in a vehicle’s brake fluid. Brake function would remain in such circumstances, but stopping distances may be increased.” <\/p>\n

FCA claims to be unaware of any crashes, collisions, or injuries related to this<\/em> manufacturing defect. The Michigan-based automaker currently holds the record for most vehicles recalled in 2018, with 6M vehicles recalled so far. <\/p>\n
