The ingredient was also found in Abbott Labratories&#8217; weight-loss drug Meridia that was pulled from the market in 2010 due to increased risk of heart attack and stroke. <\/p>\n<p>Phenolphthalein has been categorized by the FDA as &#8220;not generally recognized as safe and effective.&#8221; The drug used to be included in over-the-counter laxatives but was banned in the US after the FDA determined that it might be associated with an increased risk of cancer after long-term use. The chemical is also potentially capable of damaging or even mutating a persons&#8217;s DNA. <\/p>\n<p>The capsules come in gold and blue and were sold online in May and June of 2015. Each bottle displays a July 2017 expiration date. <\/p>\n<p>Lucy&#8217;s Weight Loss system has said it will notify customers by e-mail about the recall and arrange for the products&#8217; return. In the meantime, consumers are urged to immediately discontinue use. Consumers with further questions can contact the company by phone (682)-308-0199 or pbfitme@gmail.com.
