Visonic, Inc. pendants/wristbands/kits were leased exclusively by Life Alert to subscribers that are at risk of having a medical emergency while at home. The pendants and wristbands provide access to a call center with the push of a button. The devices also offer fall monitoring, which uses a transmitter to detect if and when a user has fallen.
Dying Visonic Batteries Pose Threat to Dependant Consumers
It is reported that an accelerated circuit drain in the pendant battery results in a shorter than anticipated low-battery warning, leaving consumers without the proper warning time to remedy the issue. Traditionally, the low battery warning is supposed to last approximately 30 days, however with the accelerated drain, the warning can last for a mere nine days, possibly leaving vulnerable and dependent subscribers without access to emergency care.
