The recalled mattresses are the VYSSA style and include the model names VACKERT, VINKA, SPELEVINK, SLÖA, and SLUMMER. The mattresses could potentially cause a gap between the mattress and the crib, creating a hazard for entrapment which could lead to suffocation and death. Currently, there are only two reports of infants becoming trapped. Both babies were removed without injury.
The mattress was sold for about $100 between April 2010 and May 2014 exclusively at IKEA stores nationwide and online.
Concerned consumers can check their crib mattresses by measuring any gap between the mattres and the ends of the crib. If the distance is wider than two fingers width, that mattress is defective. Anyone who finds they are in possession of a defective IKEA crib mattress should immediately discontinue use and go to their nearest IKEA store for an exchange or a full refund.New Jersey and Philadelphia Personal Injury Attorneys
