On November 14, 2014, Philadelphia Personal Injury Attorneys were notified that B&G Foods, based in Parsippany, New Jersey, issued a recall for various Ortega brand Taco Seasoning and Sauces due to undeclared Peanut & Almonds found in the affected products.  The voluntary recall, issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) includes a variety of Ortega Taco Seasoning Mix, Ortega Taco Sauce, Ortega Enchilada Sauce and Ortega Taco Kits as well as certain Las Palmas Taco Seasoning and Las Palmas Taco Sauce Products after learning that one or more of the spice ingredients purchased from a third party supplier contain peanuts and almonds.  These allergens are not declared on the products’ ingredient statement.  Consumption of these products could be life threatening to individuals with a sensitivity or allergy to peanuts or almonds.  The complete list of recalled products includes:

Taken from ortega.com

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are asked to return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.  For further information regarding the recall feel free to contact B&G directly using their recall hotline 877-929-2576 from 8am-8pm ET or logging on to www.ortega.com and click on RECALL for more details.

The attorneys of Messa & Associates, P.C. do want to point out that not all Ortega brand products are included in this recall.  Only the specified size and variety listed above should cause concern.  Many of their products, including Ortega Fajita Seasoning Mix and Ortega Chili Seasoning Mix, among others are labeled correctly therefore they do not fall within the parameters of this recall. B&G has changed suppliers to insure that production can safely resume.
