On February 24, 2015 the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported a recall of Brewmaster Ceiling Fans by Fanimation. The Philadelphia personal injury attorneys at Messa & Associates, P.C. have discovered that the recall was issued because the ceiling fan hub holding the blades can separate from the shaft when operating in reverse posing a risk of injury to bystanders.
The Famination recall includes 9,300 Brewmaster belt-driven fans powered by a remote motor. The fans have two blades and were sold in short and long neck assembly, extending 15 inches and 26 inches respectfully. The fans were available for purchase in antique brass, pewter and black hardware. A faceplate reading “THE BREWMASTER by FANIMATION” can be found on the lower part of the head assembly. All products with model numbers FP10AB, FP10AC, FP10BL, FP10PW, FP20AB, FP20AC, FP20BL, FP20PW on their package are included in this recall.
Fanimation Inc, of Zionsville, Indiana, says that the affected models of this recall were manufactured in China and distributed across the United States from June 2002 through December 2014. The products could be found at electrical distributors, fan specialty stores and lighting showrooms ranging in price from $800 to $2,500 per system. By the time of the recall there were two reported incidents where the hub fell and luckily neither involved injury.
Consumers who think they may have purchased one of the recalled products can find more information by calling the Fanimation Recall Hotline at (888)250-6458 from 8am to 5pm ET Monday through Friday. More information can also be found online at www.fanimation.com or by emailing the firm at recall@fanimation.com. Fanimation advises consumers to immediately stop using the product. They will be providing a retention collar for all Brewmaster fans that will remedy the issues to all consumers that put in a request.
