It was reported on January 29, 2015 that that Sunbeam Products Inc. has issued a recall for Oil Filled Heaters across the United States. The heaters, which stand approximately two feet tall, were sold at Target and small department stores from August 2014 through November 2014 and are being recalled due to the potential of spraying heated oil which can cause property damage as well as scalding.
The Sunbeam Holmes recall affects approximately 34,000 oil filled heaters across the United States and bears the model number HOH3000 or HOH3000B printed on a label found on the bottom of the product. The Holmes logo is prominently displayed on the side of the space heater above the power switch and temperature control. Another identifying factor found on heaters included in the Sunbeam Holmes recall is the code on the blade of
the plug. The codes that fall in the rage of G192 through G298 are included in the recall.
As of the date of recall the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has reported around 40 incidents where heated oil was unexpectedly sprayed from the space heater. In the involved incidents there was property damage of fabric and carpets however there have been no reported incidents involving personal injury. To further prevent personal injury the attorneys of Messa & Associates, P.C. support the CPSC in their recommendation of immediate stoppage of use of the affected oil filled heaters. It is important that all heaters are also unplugged. Consumers can contact Sunbeam directly to secure a full refund. They can be reached anytime at (800) 515-4715. Details can also be found on their website at www.holmesproducts.com under “Oil Filled Heater Recall”.
