On May 20, 2015 the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued two separate recalls involving the Kenmore Elite Range by Electrolux sold exclusively at Sears. The larger of the recalls includes approximately 5,300 ranges while the smaller only 250 however there is some overlap.
The first of the Electrolux recalls is due to the stainless steel trim found below the range control panel. It was reported that one person received a laceration and needed stitches due to the sharp edge of the trim. Included are gas, electric, and duel fuel models manufactured in the United States and sold at Sears nationwide from May 2014 through April 2015.
The second, potentially more dangerous recall affects approximately 250 Kenmore Elite duel fuel ranges that were distributed from June to October of 2014. CPSC is reporting that the burner flame can go out while the gas is turned on. This means gas can escape and potentially ignite risking fire and burns.
