Kia, a South Korean automobile manufacturer, has recalled over 370 thousand Sorento SUVs due to a transmission defect that allows the vehicle to shift out of park if the driver’s foot isn’t on the brake. Documents filed by Kia with various United States safety regulators say that the cars can roll away unexpectedly and have caused three injuries, so far.

The recall includes model years 2011-2013. Investigations into the defect began in August after Kia was contacted by an attorney, claiming that a child moved the gear shift out of park and the car rolled, causing injury.

Kia has plans to replace the defective interlock mechanism in all recalled vehicles. They say owners of recalled vehicles will be contacted directly, starting November 24th.
