Macy’s has issued a recall of over 120 thousand 8″ and 10″ stainless steel frying pans, sold as part of 10-piece cookware collection called the Martha Stewart Collection. The frying pans each have two metal discs covering the fying pans’ rivets (where the handle and pan are attached). It was discovered, after seven incident reports, that the metal discs can pop off, posing threat of injury, including bruises, welts, and burns. Three such injuries were, in fact, reported.
Other pieces in the Martha Stewart cookware collection include 3 saucepans and a stockpot, but only the frying pans are affected by the recall. Recalled products will have one of the date codes pictured below on the bottom of the pan.
Remedy for Consumers
Consumers should discontinue use of their 8-inch and 10-inch Martha Stewart Collection frying pans immediately. Other items from the set, however, are safe for continued use. If the cookware was purchased at Macy’s or macys.com, consumers should contact the store for a store credit in for the value of two frying pans. For more information, consumers can call toll-free at 888-257-5949 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET seven days a week. They can also visit www.macys.com and click on Product Recall.
