Summer season is here and for many that means summer salads at barbecues and parties. Those with food allergies should take extra precaution however following a recent Wish-Bone Salad Dressing recall affecting their popular Ranch dressing. On June 23, 2015 the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a voluntary recall of limited quantities of 24 oz. Ranch Salad Dressing due to a packaging mishap that led to undeclared allergens.
Pinnacle Foods Group LLC of Parsippany, NJ says that a limited number of bottles are not filled with ranch dressing but rather blue cheese. For most this would be nothing other than a shock to the taste buds but for people with an egg allergy or sensitivity this could cause a potentially deadly situation. This known allergen is not reported on the label due to the packaging mix up.
Based on information provided by the FDA, 8,678 cases of Wish-Bone Ranch Salad Dressing Bottles are involved. They were distributed worldwide and were produced on April 23, 2015. The ‘Best By’ date of FEB 17 16 can be found on the label on the neck of the bottle. Consumers with affected bottle can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Pinnacle Food Group is answering consumer questions Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm ET at 1-888-299-7646.
