BMW Recalls Vehicles Due to Fire Hazard
November 9, 2011 – BMW North America is recalling 32,084 vehicles from the 2008 through 2011 model years to correct a defect causing circuit boards for the electric auxiliary water pump to overheat which could result in a fire in the engine compartment which may lead to a vehicle fire. The vehicle fire could cause a crash or result in serious burn injuries including skin damage, internal injuries, smoke or toxic gas inhalation or death.
The auto maker is recalling certain vehicles with eight- or 12-cylinder turbocharged engines including 5 Series, 5 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, and X5 and X6 sport utility vehicles.
