Medical malpractice lawyers won the family of a now 9-year-old boy born with cerebral palsy a $21 million verdict in Baltimore last week. Jaylan Norfleet was born prematurely and lost oxygen while still in his mother’s womb. He is fully functioning cognitively, but his body is severely disabled as a result of cerebral palsy. The family was awarded $18 million for his medical care, $2 million for lost potential wages, and $1 million for noneconomic pain and suffering.

In June, the family of 2-year-old Enzo Martinez won a $55 million verdict against Johns Hopkins Hospital for a birth injury case. Enso also suffers from cerebral palsy as a result of a delayed Caesarean section which caused a loss of oxygen to his brain.
