Online retail giant, Amazon, has recalled their AmazonBasics brand Ceramic Space Heater due to fire and burn hazards.

Philadelphia Defective Product Lawyers: AmazonBasics Ceramic Space Heater

The product is the AmazonBasics 1500 Watt Ceramic Space Heater. The recall announcement was made yesterday (June 11, 2019) citing a total of 30 reports of overheating, burning, and/or sparking related to the use of the space heaters. Two of the reports included minor damage to power outlets. Fortunately, no injuries are currently associated with the heaters.

The space heaters were sold online by Amazon in the United States (amazon.com), Canada (amazon.ca), and Mexico (amazon.com.mx) from October 2017 – March 2019 for between $25 and $35.

What Devices Are Included?

amazon space heater recall There are two models included in the recall. One model features an oscillating fan and one without. The heaters were sold in black and silver colors, as pictured above. You can check the label of your product on the back of the unit for the ASIN number.

Next Steps

Consumers who are affected by this recall are urged to discontinue use of the space heaters. Amazon will send emails directly to all customers that purchased the impacted products with instructions on how to receive a full refund.
