Late last week, Honda and its luxury brand, Acura, announced a recall of nearly every one of their 2019 and 2020 models to replace defective fuel pumps.
The fuel pumps in the recalled vehicles have impellers that can crack which can lead the pump to stop working. If the pump disfunctions while a vehicle is in operation, it could cause the vehicle to stall which may lead to a crash and serious injury or death. As of April 2nd, Honda was unaware of any crashes or injuries related to the defective fuel pumps.
Honda and Acura owners affected by the recall will begin receiving notifications on May 18th and dealerships will replace fuel pumps for free. Owners can find out if their vehicle is included in the recall by entering their VIN number into NHTSA’s recall tool. Owners can also reference the list below.
