Hyundai recently announced that 239,000 vehicles are being recalled because of seat belt malfunction. As of now, there are three reported injuries caused by a device in a seatbelt that is deploying unnecessarily.
An integral part of the seat belt system that locks the seatbelt in place in the event of a crash – can explode when deployed and send metal fragments throughout the vehicle which can result in injuries.
The recall includes 2019-2022 accents, 2021-2023 Elantras, and 2021-2022 Elantra HEVs, or hybrid electric vehicles.
