Philadelphia personal injury lawyers report news of an explosion at a housing development on Crockett Lane in Mercer County, New Jersey this afternoon. The explosion leveled several homes in the development. According to officials, at least seven people were injured and one person is missing. Witnesses have reported hearing the explosion and being able to see smoke from several miles away.

The local gas company, PSE&G, says that its workers had been working to repair a gas line that was damaged by Henkels & McCoy, a private contractor based in Blue Bell, Pa., just before the explosion. Five gas workers are among the seven people injured. Two other Henkels & McCoy contactors were injured as well. Several victims were taken to Capital Health Medical Center in Pennington—two have been reported as trauma cases. Three more victims were sent to the Helene Fuld Campus in Trenton.

The explosion caused extensive damage, completely destroying one of the homes. Many other adjacent homes have sustained a great amount of smoke and potential structural damage. At this time, reports did not indicate how much damage the homes have. Reported injuries include respiratory issues, broken bones and head injuries. No further details such as age have been released regarding the victims. Emergency personnel and investigators are on the scene and continue to monitor the situation.

UPDATE: A female body was found on top of a car parked near the explosion site. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities are still awaiting autopsy results to identify her.
