In two cases, children died after being strangled by the cord attached to the Angelcare baby monitor. The first an 8-month-old girl died in August 2004 and the second death was that of a 13-month-old girl in San Diego in November 2011. Additional reports indicate that at least two other babies have been entangled by the cord, but not fatally.
Personal Injury Lawyers: Parents Should Immediately Stop Using Angelcare Baby Monitors as They May Cause Injuries to Children
Parents are advised to immediately stop using versions of the Angelcare baby monitors with sensor cords. As the cords may cause injuries to the children, including those that are fatal, parents should be aware that they should not purchase the Angelcare baby monitors either new or as a resell product from someone else. The montiors were sold between 1999 and 2013 at retailers, including Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Sears and Walmart. It was also sold online and in other specialty stores.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, eight babies have been strangled by baby monitor with cords since 2002.
