Philadelphia personal injury attorneys say Johnson & Johnson has recalled 200,000 bottles of Concentrated Motrin Infants’ Drops. McNeil, the manufacturer of Motrin, says the recall took effect as a result of a risk that the bottles may contain tiny plastic particles. The particles were traced to a shipment of ibuprofen from a supplier. Ibuprofen, the active ingredient in Motrin, is an NSAID commonly used as a pain reliever and fever reducer.
Lot numbers DCB3T01, DDB4R01 and DDB4S01 of Concentrated Motrin Infants’ Drops Original Berry Flavor were recalled a month ago. McNeil indicated that the medication may have been contaminated with particles of PTFE, a plastic used in Teflon coatings. The recall is still in effect and pertains to half-ounce bottles of the Motrin.
Personal Injury Attorneys Say Johnson & Johnson Has Continued to Struggle with Recalls, Quality Control Problems
Johnson & Johnson has been plagued with numerous quality control concerns affecting the company’s image. Its most recent series of recalls began in April 2010 after more than 136 million children and infant over-the-counter medicines were recalled. The recall was the largest of its kind. In fact, McNeil’s primary manufacturing plant in Fort Washington, Pa. closed following the recall and has not yet re-opened.
Just this year alone, Johnson & Johnson has recalled several of its products, including: Children’s Tylenol that contained too much acetaminophen, millions of oral contraceptive due to flawed tablets, Adept hip implants that failed prematurely, OneTouch VerioIQ blood glucose meters that shut off as opposed to issuing a warning when a patients’ blood sugar levels get dangerously high, and versions of K-Y Jelly personal lubricant that may have never received the appropriate regulatory approval.
