In the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association annual meeting two Messa & Associates partners were elected to new leadership roles. Thomas N. Sweeney will serve as President Elect and Ramon A. Arreola is the Assistant Treasurer.
The Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association (PTLA) is dedicated to the preservation of Civil Justice System and every citizen’s right to trial by jury. In addition to its work for victims of negligence, the PTLA supports continuing legal education for attorneys in Philadelphia by sponsoring a Luncheon Lecture Series and numerous seminars. The organization also honors exemplary law school seniors with trial advocacy awards.
The PTLA is the preeminent organization in Philadelphia advancing the mission of trial lawyers to promote justice for all. The objectives of the Association are to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, advance the sciences of jurisprudence the cause of those who are damaged in person or property, and who must seek redress at law, train in advocacy, promote the administration of justice for the public good, uphold the honor and dignity of the profession of the law, encourage brotherhood and sisterhood among the members of the Bar, and uphold and improve the adversary system and trial by jury.
Tom Sweeney concentrates his practice on complex personal injury litigation including premises liability, toxic tort, products liability, construction injuries, civil rights, and other catastrophic injury cases. He has practiced in trial and appellate courts across the United States and has represented clients before the American Arbitration Association. Mr. Sweeney is a member of both the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bars and is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is a member of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice.
Ray Arreola is an experienced and successful litigator who concentrates his practice on complex personal injury litigation, including products liability, toxic tort, transportation accidents, construction accidents, and other worksite injuries. Mr. Arreola has been recognized in multiple industry publications for his record-setting client awards and skilled legal representation. He is licensed to practice law before the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Supreme Courts, and in Federal Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.
