This image from video provided to the Asociated Press by KDKA TV shows the scene along the Pennsylvania Turnpike where at least five people were killed and dozens were injured in a trucking crash early Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020 that involved multiple vehicles.

A 56 passenger tour-bus, a Fed-Ex tractor trailer, two UPS tractor trailers, and a Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicle all collided on the PA Turnpike last Sunday in a chain-reaction trucking crash that caused five deaths and injuries to at least 60 others.

The deadly crash took place at about 3:30 am after the tour bus hit the center median, veered sharply right, traveled up an embankment, and rolled over. Moments later, the bus was struck by a Fed-Ex tractor trailer. The bus was then hit by a UPS tractor-trailer. A Mercedes Benz passenger vehicle hit the side of the UPS truck, and a second UPS tractor trailer hit the Mercedes, pinning the car between the two large trucks.

The driver of the tour-bus, Shuang Qing Feng (58), was ejected from the bus and pronounced dead at the scene. Two bus passengers, Eileen Zelias Aria (35) and Jaremy Vazquez (9) were both ejected from the bus and pronounced dead at the scene. Two operators of the first UPS tractor trailer, Daniel Kepner (53) and Dennis Kehler (48) were both pronounced dead at the scene. According to police, neither the passengers in the Mercedes nor those in the second UPS truck were injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said on Monday that their report would be completed in 10 days. NTSB’s “wide-ranging, complex” investigation will focus on roadway design, driver performance, motor carrier compliance, and survival factors.
