IKEA has issued a recall of its PATRULL Nightlight due to electrical shock hazard. The lights employ a plastic cover that can detach, exposing electrical components.
The nightlights are sold with dome-shaped covers in white, orange, or pink and resemble half of a golf ball. The nightlights work with an electronic sensor that allows the nightlight to turn off or on, depending on the amount of light in the room. One injury was reported in Austria where a child attempted to remove the night light from the outlet and instead removed the plastic cover. The child received an electric shock and minor injuries to the hands.
No injuries have been reported within the United States.
Consumers are urged to discontinue use and return the nightlights to an IKEA store for a full refund. Consumers with questions should contact IKEA toll-free at 888-966-4532 or visit them online at www.ikea-usa.com.
