Beech-Nut Nutrition Recall of Baby Food

04/15/2015 By Kathleen Britt Leave a Comment

On April 14, 2015 Beech-Nut Nutrition issued a recall of approximately 1,920 pounds of baby food that may be contaminated with foreign matter. It was reported by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) that the voluntary recall is in response to the discovery of a small piece of glass by a consumer in a jar of baby food.

Beech-Nut Nutrition, based in Amsterdam, New York, is reporting that the recall pertains to baby food that was produced on December 12, 2014. Specifically, 4 ounce glass jars containing “Stage 2 Beech-Nut CLASSICS sweet potato & chicken” with an expiration date of “Dec 2016” are included.  The establishment number “P-68A” can be found inside the USDA mark of inspection. Product numbers range from “12395750815” through “12395750821” only. The jars of baby food were sold at retail locations around the United States.

The company received only one report of an oral injury experienced during the consumption of a contaminated product. The personal injury attorneys of Messa & Associates, P.C. support FSIS in their recommendation of consulting a healthcare provider if there are concerns of injury or illness due to this recall. The company is suggesting an immediate stoppage of use for the recalled baby food. Consumers in possession of affected jars can return the product to the store where purchased for a full refund or exchange. Consumers with questions concerning the Beech-Nut Nutrition recall can use the consumer hotline at (866) 674-4446 or find more information on their website.
