Cribs Recalled Due to Entrapment, Fall, and Laceration Hazards

Philadelphia personal injury attorneys report the voluntary July 15th recall of about 11,000 DaVinci brand cribs that pose entrapment, fall, and laceration hazards to babies and toddlers utilizing them.

The recall comes after ten reports of a mattress support bracket detaching. When broken, the bracket, which connects the mattress support to the crib, creates a gap and uneven sleeping support. Babies can roll into the gap and become entrapped, facing possible suffocation. The gap also poses fall hazards for smaller babies, and the broken bracket itself poses laceration or even choking hazards.

Fortunately, no injuries have yet to be reported. Consumers are urged to immediately discontinue use and find a safe and suitable place for children to sleep, such as a bassinet, play yard, or toddler bed (if the child is old enough). Consumers may contact the manufacturer (Bexco Enterprises, Inc.) for a free replacement mattress support, which includes replacement brackets, by calling (215) 568-3500 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. PT Monday through Friday. Consumers can also visit the DaVinci recall page for more information.
