The personal injury attorneys of Messa & Associates, P.C. were notified by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) of a Keurig recall affecting nearly 7 million products. It was reported on December 23, 2014 that the Keurig MINI Plus Brewing Systems manufactured in China and Malaysia were being recalled due to the potential of water overheating during brewing and spraying consumers risking burn.
Keurig Green Mountain Inc. of Waterbury, Vermont reports that approximately 6.6 million products were distributed in the United States and 564,000 were distributed across Canada. The single serve brewers were sold in 13 different colors and stand approximately 11 inches tall. Bearing the model number K10, all of the recalled systems have an identification number starting with 31 followed by a range of numbers on a white sticker that can be found on the bottom of the brewer. The recalled units were produced between December 2009 and July 2014.
Keurig is reporting 200 incidents of hot liquid spewing from the brewers with 90 incidents of burn related injuries. The device can be fixed using a repair kit being provided by Keurig Green Mountain.
