The case was brought against the Philadelphia Joint Board Workers’ Union (PJB) in Philadelphia County. The victim, Keith Spencer, was run down by a union-owned SUV being operated by a drunk, unlicensed driver who was given access to the vehicle by a union employee. Attorneys Furber and Arreola argued that PJB failed to implement and enforce an adequate vehicle policy, including proper background checks and vehicle lending policies.

Tragically, as a result of the collision, Mr. Spencer suffered grave injuries that left him unable to care for himself. In addition to providing funds to cover past medical expenses, the verdict provided Mr. Spencer $7.3M for future medical expenses and $5M for pain and suffering.
